　　马丁·路德·金和马尔科姆·X唯一一次会面是1964年3月26日在美国国会大厦，两人参与了参议院关于1964年民权法案的辩论。
　　本剧故事将探索两人的成长岁月、开创性成就、竞争哲学和关键人际关系。当金通过非暴力抗议推进种族平等时，马尔科姆·X为黑人赋权、身份认同和自决权大声疾呼。分别有着令人敬畏的妻子科丽塔·斯科特·金、贝蒂·夏巴兹在身边，金和X成为了民权时代和争取种族、经济正义的代名词。虽然他们只见过一次面，并且经常挑战对方的观点，但如果没有对方，两人都不会那么成功。
